Support
Answers to what people ask most, fixes for what actually breaks, and a real address to write to when neither helps.
Talk to a person
One person reads this inbox. Plain English is fine, and a screenshot usually saves a round trip.
Reporting a bug
Four lines is usually enough to fix something on the first try:
- What you did, in the order you did it.
- What you expected, and what happened instead.
- Your device and OS version — for example, "iPhone 14, iOS 18.4" or "Pixel 7, Android 15".
- The app version, from Settings, and a screenshot or screen recording if the problem is visual.
Please do not send your exported data unless we ask for it. It is your health diary, and we do not need it to fix most things.
Barcode scanning is not working
- Nothing happens when the scanner opens. Check the camera permission: iOS Settings → Minimalar → Camera, or Android Settings → Apps → Minimalar → Permissions.
- It scans but finds nothing. The barcode is not in Open Food Facts, which happens with small brands and some regions. Search by name instead, or add the food manually — either way it is saved for next time.
- "Scan limit reached". Free includes five scans a day; the counter resets at midnight. Pro removes the limit.
- It hangs. Lookups need a connection. On a weak one the request times out and gives up rather than spinning forever.
Purchases and restoring Pro
- Paid but still on Free. Open Settings and choose Restore purchases. Make sure you are signed in to the store account you bought with.
- New phone. Restore purchases moves the subscription. It does not move your logs — those were on the old device, so export them from it first if you still can.
- Refunds. Handled by Apple or Google under their policies, not by us. Ask through the store you bought from.
- Cancelling. Instructions are here.
My history is missing
Free shows the last three days. Older days are still on your device and appear again with Pro — nothing was deleted.
If data has genuinely gone, the usual causes are the app being uninstalled and reinstalled, Android's "Clear storage", or a Reset from Settings. Because your logs are only ever on your device, none of those can be undone by us, and there is no server copy to restore from. This is the trade-off that comes with not having your diary on somebody else's computer.
Common questions
Do I need an account?
No. There is no sign-up, no email address and no password. Open the app and start logging.
Where is my data kept?
On your phone, in the app’s own storage. Your food, water, workouts, focus sessions, meditation, notes and measurements are written locally and are never uploaded. Deleting the app deletes them with it, so export anything you want to keep first.
So what does leave my phone?
Only what you ask for. A barcode you scan is sent to Open Food Facts to look up its nutrition facts. A food name you type is sent to USDA FoodData Central to search it. Separately, subscription receipts are checked with Adapty. Nothing else is transmitted, and none of it carries your logs.
Does it work offline?
Everything except the lookups above. Logging, the focus timer, meditation, workouts, notes and the whole dashboard work with no connection at all. Food you have already saved can be logged offline too.
Is Minimalar free?
Yes. Daily logging, the focus timer, meditation, workouts, notes and the Today dashboard are free forever, along with three days of history and five barcode scans a day. Pro is optional.
What does Pro add?
Unlimited history and trends, heatmaps and pattern insights, PDF reports, unlimited barcode scanning, body measurements with BMI over time, and custom focus categories.
How do I cancel?
Through the App Store or Google Play subscription settings on your device, the same as any other subscription. Cancelling stops the next renewal; Pro stays active until the period you already paid for ends.
Can I get my data out?
Yes, free, at any time: the app exports a plain-text file of everything you have logged. Pro adds formatted PDF reports on top of that.
